Stronger Together is led by Jamie Pezza who is also a Reiki Master at Blackbird. Her youngest daughter, now 12, was diagnosed with Autism, when she turned 8 years old. This diagnosis was no surprise as she suspected this might be the case since the age of 4 after witnessing severe traits of anxiety, OCD and certain patterns and behaviors. This led her to push for evaluations and services, but with long wait lists and push back from already over loaded schools she started reading on her own how she could help her child.
Jamie says: "Parenting can be rewarding and joyful but it can also be exhausting, stressful and can even feel lonely at times. When you are a caregiver for child (or adult child) with higher needs, sometimes that journey feels even more so. This is why I thought it would be great to have a safe space for caregivers to get together to share ideas, vent or just know that we aren’t alone."
